Due to the large amount of hot water required to effectivly run a nursing home, Grange Nursing decided that the commercial installation of a Solar Hot Water System made the best sense to keep costs down.
As per all of Monaghan & Hornals quotes, the site was personally surveyed and all details discussed. Each surveyor has over 20 year experience and knows the various facets of a Solar Water Heating System.
A 8m2 set of flat plate solar thermal panels was deemed to be the most suitable solution. Ideally placed on a South facing part of the building in landscape position.
As a commercial installation, there was no funding avaliable. Although the overall cost saving made the Solar Heating system the obvious choice for low cost hot water.
The system installation date was set for Summer 2008 and promptly installed over a two month period.
The complete installation was guarenteed for two years with a ten year guarentee on the solar plates themselves.
The system provides 400 litres of hot water between 52 and 55 degrees with a safe guard system in place to prevent the water from heating beyond 71 degrees.
The system generates 6,000 kWh (kilowatt hours) of energy each year. This translates to a saving of approximatly £540.00 per anum (£0.09 kwH). The system will then have paided back its installation costs within ten years. while also saving approximatly 2 tonnes of CO2 a year.
