The Scottish Executive has a target of generating 40% of energy from renewable sources by 2020 - you can play a part in reaching that target by installing a renewable energy system. What funding bodies can I apply to? The Energy Savings Trust is the only body for domestic funding. Their website has extensive details on all matters pertaining to energy saving via solar power. What funding is available? Grants of 30%, up to £4000.00, are available towards the cost of installing renewable energy technologies. Who can apply? The grant is available to anyone who owns a home in Scotland. You can apply to fit your renewable energy system onto an existing building or as part of a new building project. Whatever option you choose, the main thing to remember is that the grant application has to be in the name of the person that owns, or is going to own, the home. For the new build projects where the owner is not known, a builder, developer or architect can apply on behalf of the future owner. in these cases the owner would claim grant once they have bought their new home with the renewable energy system installed. How do I apply? To obtain an application form and guidelines contact the hotline on 0800 138 8858. To help you with the application please specify"Sun Harvester" as your supplier of choice. They will send out an application form that has to be returned with a quote from your supplier of choice. Once you have received a grant offer, you are able to start work on your project. Funding is only avaliable from the Energy Savings Trust and is set at £400.00 per installation.
